Real Estate Mix-Up, Tiring Workout: Burr Ridge Cops
An agent walks into the wrong house, upsetting the owner, police say.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving a real estate mix-up, a man exhausted after a workout, a landlord-tenant dispute, road rage, an elderly pedestrian, a wrecked car, solicitors and loud noise. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:
Agent enters wrong house
- A Coldwell Banker real estate agent went inside an unlocked house in the 6100 block of Park Avenue without permission in early May. The owner reported the incident Sunday. The agent believed the house was for sale, but a nearby house was the one on the market. The woman left the house after realizing her mistake, but did not apologize for entering unannounced. The owner wanted her to know she was not allowed on his property.

- A man was seen sleeping in his car about 12:30 a.m. May 13 in his 2013 Audi near LifeTime fitness center, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway. He said he was tired after working out and did not sleep well the night before. He said he would be fine to drive home.
Landlord accuses tenant
- A resident in the 16W200 block of 94th Street told police May 13 that a former tenant removed a wood-burning fireplace and caused damage to her house after he moved out. An officer told the landlord that it was a civil matter. The officer was unable to contact the former tenant by telephone or at his property on Oak Hill Court to speak with him about the incident. The landlord she did not want the former tenant back at her home without her and an officer present. The next day, the woman reported that her former tenant broke into her garage in the previous day to remove his belongings after he was told not to come onto the property without a police escort. The officer saw the door jamb to the garage service door was damaged.

- A resident on Arcadia Court told police May 7 that someone opened a Sprint account in his name. The outstanding balance is $2,359.
Road rage
- A guest at Extended Stay America, 15W122 S. Frontage Road, told police May 7 that he was involved in a road rage incident that started at Cal-Sag Trail and La Grange Road and concluded at Willow Springs Road and 95th Street. A man in a black BMW pointed a gun at him. No one was hurt, and no events occurred in Burr Ridge. Local police referred the victim to the Cook County Sheriff's Office or the Palos Heights Police Department.
Walking for her health
- An elderly woman described as confused was seen walking on the side of the road about 9 p.m. May 7 near County Line and Plainfield roads. An officer spoke with the woman. She said she had taken the train from Chicago to Hinsdale and decided to walk to her co-worker's house on Post Road because the exercise was good for her. She said she would stay at her co-worker's house for two days.
In the microwave too long
- A fire alarm was sounded about 6 p.m. May 8 on Northgate Place. A woman said her microwaveable dish set off the alarm when she left it in the microwave for too long.
Wrecked car
- An officer saw a wrecked 2018 Hyundai about 5 a.m. May 10 in the parking lot at 101 Tower Drive. The driver said he was in an accident on Interstate 55. State police towed the car to the parking lot. He showed his state police paperwork. He said he would have his car removed within a few hours. He left with his father.
Missing phone found
- A woman went to the police station May 9 to report that someone had just stolen her phone while she was at LifeTime fitness center, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway. The next day, she told police that a LifeTime member informed her that someone turned in her phone after it was left on a piece of equipment.
Solicitors seen
- An officer searched the area near the 8400 block of Heather Drive for two women who were seen soliciting door to door May 9. They were in a blue, four-door Chevrolet. The officer could not find the women.
Suspicious car
- A man in a tan Subaru parked in front of a woman's house twice in an hour on the afternoon of May 13 in the 6100 block of Woodcreek Drive. In both instances, the man drove away when she walked outside.
Talking loudly
- A resident in the 11600 block of Briarwood Lane told police that a neighbor was having a loud party about 12:30 a.m. Friday. The neighbor said she and two other people were just in the hot tub and possibly talking loudly. She said they would keep it down.
