Private Handgun Purchase Goes Blank

A resident on the 8000 block of Garfield Avenue attempted to purchase a handgun through a private seller, police said. The resident sent money but never received the merchandise. The incident is under investigation.

SUNDAY, AUG. 4

Threatening E-mails

A person's daughter reported receiving threatening emails at 9:52 p.m. on the 800 block of Village Center Drive. The parent and daughter actually live in Hinsdale, so they were directed to that village's police department.

Man Grabs Woman, Takes Off

A woman said she had an altercation at 7:31 p.m. with a man who grabbed her arm on the 15W700 block of 74th Street. He was gone by the time police arrived and she did not wish to sign complaints.

Stolen iPod

An iPod was reported stolen at 7:30 p.m. from a party located in unincorporated Cook County. The complainants were directed to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
