Residents honor King-Bruwaert staff with blue ribbon messages
Employees receive recognition for their dedication and compassionate care
Blue ribbons and messages of appreciation decorated the campus of King-Bruwaert House (KBH) May 7 as a visible sign of support for compassionate, caring staff members who have worked with great dedication and commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of The Woods of King-Bruwaert and Godair Park created the colorful ribbons that were festooned around fencing, railings, large trees and an employee parking area to show gratitude from residents of the retirement community. Among those who helped to decorate the grounds were Woods residents David Eller, Pat Jahn, Mary Therese Hester and Rose Ann Hoof.
Response from staff members was swift as word spread that the ribbons decorated the campus.
“Awesome. This is wonderful,” commented RN Maureen Klimek, an Assisted Living Unit Manager who has been with K-B for more than two decades. Klimek walked the grounds with RN Skilled Nursing Unit Manager Evelyn Salvador, a 21-year employee, who also read the special messages written by residents.

“Thank you for all that you do to make K-B a special place,” reflected one sentiment written in gold lettering for all to see. Another message was equally as touching: “Heartfelt gratitude to the entire K-B staff for weeks of caring about and for us.”
Resident Pat Jahn was pleased to be involved with the project that recognized KBH staff.

“I hope the ribbons not only showed the staff how much we appreciate all they are doing, but also helped to boost their morale and make them smile,” Jahn said.
As a separate gesture of good will and recognition, King-Bruwaert House presented chocolate roses to staff having the distinction of celebrating a joyous Mother’s Day.
