Roadside Quarrel, Burglary In Progress: Burr Ridge Cops

Two men meet halfway between homes for an early morning argument, report says.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Recently, Burr Ridge responded to cases involving an early morning argument, a burglary in progress, a toddler dialing 911, a motorbike issue, a roof repair request, an obscene gesture and a fight in a car. Here is information from the latest Burr Ridge police reports:

Meeting halfway

  • An officer saw two men arguing on a sidewalk about 3 a.m. May 30 at 60th and Elm streets. As the officer approached, the men walked in separate directions. One of the men said they were friends who met halfway between their homes to discuss some issues. He said he was fine, declined to give his name and said he wanted to walk home.

  • A resident in the 16W200 block of 94th Street told police that a group of mask-wearing 18-year-olds were trying to break into her car in her driveway about 10 p.m. May 30. They then yelled at her and ran toward Route 83. While searching the area, an officer saw four people run north on Jackson Street before trying to cross to the west side of Route 83. The officer activated his emergency lights and stopped a 12-year-old boy while others ran south through the parking lot of Matty's Family Restaurant. The boy admitted to being in the area, but stated he did not commit any crime. Officers spoke to the youth's mother and told her why they stopped her child.

Toddler dials 911

  • A toddler accidentally dialed 911 and then hung up from a hotel room about 8 a.m. May 29 at Chicago Marriott, 1200 Burr Ridge Parkway.

Motorbike issue

  • Teenagers were reported to be riding motorbikes on other people's properties about 2:30 p.m. May 29 in the 7800 block of County Line Road. Officers were unable to find the teens.

Illegal fishing

  • Three boys were fishing about 4:30 p.m. May 29 at a pond near 79th Street and Chasemoor Drive. Officers told them they weren't allowed to fish in the pond.

Roof request

  • A resident in the 6600 block of Manor Drive asked police May 29 if he could continue construction on his roof the next day. He said it was an emergency because he was afraid the roof would leak. An officer told the man that no construction is allowed on Sundays, but an exception could be made for an emergency. The resident said he would have workers arrive at 10 a.m. to finish the roof.

Practicing wheelies

  • A person in the 6900 block of Veterans Boulevard told police that motorcycle riders were doing wheelies in a parking lot about 3 p.m. May 30. Two people admitted to practicing wheelies on their minibikes and said they were done for the day.

Flipping off

  • A resident in the 700 block of Cambridge Drive told police the driver of a yellow sports car flipped him off about 6:30 p.m. May 30. The resident wanted the incident documented.

Argument in car

  • A person told police he got into an argument with others in a car, so he got out of the car and was waiting for other friends to pick him up. He said he did not need any help. The incident happened about 10 p.m. May 30.

Lock cut off

  • A woman told police June 1 that someone between Dec. 9 and May 31 cut the lock off her storage locker and removed most of her belongings at a business at 1000 Village Center Drive. She did not want to sign a complaint, but wanted her property returned to her.

Veering off path

  • A resident told police that a man walking a black dog and a brown dog came onto his back yard from a walking path about 2 p.m. June 1 in the 6300 block of Saint James Court. One of the man's dogs defecated on his property, and the man did not pick it up. An officer could not find the man.

No theft after all

  • A man reported that his 2006 Porsche had been stolen from the Village Center parking garage on June 1. As it turned out, a family member had previously moved the car to the Chase Bank lot. No theft had occurred.
