Services Set for Retired Hinsdale Police Chief James Eccardt
Visitation will be held June 7 and 8, with a funeral service June 8 at 11 a.m. at Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home.

Retired Hinsdale police chief James Eccardt of Westmont passed away June 3, 2015.
Eccardt retired from the Hinsdale Police Department in 2003, after serving for 31 years, according to Hinsdale police. He served as chief of police in his is final two years with the department.
He was a Vietnam veteran, a U.S Marine and a Purple Heart recipient, according to Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home.

Eccardt was the beloved husband of Melanie (nee Wadas) and the loving father of Kimberly (Joseph) Musial and James Eccardt. He was the cherished grandfather of Gillian, Joey and Phoebe Musial. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. He was the fond brother-in-law of Ken and Andrea Wadas and a dear uncle to Scott, David, Dana and Nici.
Visitation will be held June 7 from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. June 8 until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Westmont. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eccardt’s honor to Concerns of Police Survivors Illinois Chapter.
