Sitting Trespasser, Vodka Server Call: Burr Ridge Cops
A woman sees a trespasser sitting in her yard, but he refuses to leave at first, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last few days, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving a sitting trespasser, a vodka sample server, a suspicious car, a small brush fire, a "nicer" car speeding and a dispute between friends. Here's information from the latest Burr Ridge police reports:
Sitting trespasser
- A resident on Drew Avenue requested an extra patrol Sunday since his wife found a man sitting in the back of their property about 8 a.m. His wife asked the man to get off their property, but the man refused. The man did not say anything threatening and left a couple of minutes later.
Vodka sample server

- A police officer responded to a report of a vodka sample server at Brookhaven Marketplace, 100 Burr Ridge Parkway, about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The woman was offering samples of a new vodka product, but she packed up her table by the time the officer arrived. The manager said she was over 21 and that everyone who asks for a sample was carded to ensure they were of legal drinking age.
Followed by suspicious car
- A woman told police about a suspicious car that she felt was following her while she was walking from her house on 78th and Drew on Saturday morning. It was an older model gray sedan driven by a man. The car followed her until she got to 83rd and County Line Road. She was unable to get a license plate number.
Small brush fire

- The Tri-State Fire Protection District responded to a wire rubbing against a tree about 1 p.m. Saturday on the south side of a yard on County Line Road, causing a small brush fire.
"Nicer" car speeding
- A resident in the 6200 block of South Elm Street told police about 4 p.m. Saturday that a "nicer" car was driving up and down the street about 50 or 60 mph. He said the car was going so fast that he could not tell if it was green or blue. He requested an additional patrol down Elm Street for speeders.
Friends forever?
- A resident in the 7900 block of Garfield Avenue told police Saturday that she had let her friend stay at her place for a few weeks after her friend broke up with her boyfriend. When she asked her friend to leave, the friend became upset and irrational. The friend told police she would leave, but needed time to pack up her belongings. Three officers were on hand and helped her remove items. She was given a ride by police to Red Roof Inn, where she got a room for the night.
Garbage on lawn
- A resident in the 6200 block of Cove Creek Court said some people dropped an old TV and some fast food garbage on his lawn Saturday. He said he suspected the people were his son's former high school friends, but he did not have proof.
Car keys found
- A resident in the 7600 block of Hamilton Avenue found a blue hoodie, a multi-colored towel and an orange translucent cup in his back yard Sunday. The hoodie had a pair of car keys for a Ford vehicle. An officer placed the items in property control.
