Trustee Guy Franzese Seeks Re-Election in Burr Ridge
His most notable role was to support the shutdown of Sterigenics. Franzese supports Smith & Mital who are also on the ballot: Vote 1-2-3

I respectfully request your vote on April 6th to continue serving as a Trustee for the Village of Burr Ridge. The primary role of a Trustee is to maintain a safe community for our residents and their families in which to live and prosper. As Covid-19 continues to issue challenges, it is my hope that you allow me to continue serving you as Trustee to guide the Village through these challenging times.
I helped Burr Ridge through another crisis---as Chairperson of the Environmental Quality Commission. I led a group of dedicated staff and volunteers whose mission was to shut down Sterigenics---a company that was polluting our air with the cancer-causing chemical Ethylene Oxide (EtO). Our efforts, along with the Stop Sterigenics group, were successful, and our community is now rid of this irresponsible neighbor.
I also chaired the Franchise Waste Hauler Sub-Committee. I led a two-year effort in 2015-2017 to bring a franchised waste hauler to the Village for the first time. We now have one waste hauler with three trucks (refuse, recyclables, and yard waste) every week versus the previous arrangement of four waste haulers with twelve trucks. What that meant to the residents was lower refuse rates with unlimited refuse removal including yard waste. In addition, there are fewer refuse trucks on our streets every week, reducing wear and tear on our roads and making them safer.

I have devoted 24 years of my life to serving Burr Ridge - serving as a Plan Commissioner from 1997 to 2013 during a tremendous growth period in our Village, as a Burr Ridge Trustee since 2013, and as Mayor Pro-Tem since 2019. I am Chairperson for several committees, including the Stormwater Management, Franchise Waste Hauler and Environmental Quality Commission Committees. I am also a member of the Street Policy Committee and the Water Committee. I am a licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Illinois and am employed as a Project Manager at a large engineering firm.
I have lived in Burr Ridge for 42 years with my wife and two children. I am a proud Lyons Township High School graduate, as are both of my children. My continuous goal is to maintain a safe community and demand excellence for our residents and businesses. I am # 3 on the ballot and ask that you please vote for the “Top 3” candidates, including #1 Russell Smith and #2 Anita Mital. There are three vacancies for Burr Ridge Trustees so please Vote 1, 2, 3.
