Virus Test Refusal, Drunk Wanderer: Burr Ridge Cops
A man refuses to take a coronavirus test at a business and enters anyway, police say.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have handled cases involving a virus test refusal, intoxicated men, a scammer seeking union donations, cars closely following girls and a never-delivered truckload, among others. Here is information from the latest Burr Ridge police reports:
Virus test refusal
- A security guard told police that a man entered Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge, 6800 N. Frontage Road, and refused to be screened for the coronavirus. The man ran upstairs and yelled at employees before leaving the building. A Loyola employee saw the man leave in a black car. The incident happened about 2 p.m. Feb. 1.
Intoxicated

- An intoxicated man was found wandering in the area of Mars Corp., 15W660 79th St., about 9 a.m. Friday after getting out of a broken down Chevrolet. He said he was walking to the Extended Stay America Hotel, which was about 1½ miles away.
- The front desk staff at Hampton Inn, 100 Harvester Drive, told police about 5:30 a.m. Friday that a guest was intoxicated and water was leaking from his room to the one below. When officers contacted the man, he said there was a leak in the bathroom, but he would not let officers inspect the problem. Front desk employees said they would call maintenance to look at the damage to the rooms.
Closely following girls
- Three cars followed slowly behind girls walking about 3 p.m. Feb. 2 in the 7700 block of Drew Avenue and then pulled into a driveway. The cars were a maroon SUV, a gray SUV and a blue truck. The girls were unable to get the license plate numbers on any of the cars. An officer informed them that the police would provide extra patrols in the area.
Union scam

- A resident in the 11300 block of 72nd Street reported that someone from an unknown number called claiming to be from a police union about 4 p.m. Feb. 1. The person asked for a donation, but the resident knew it was a scam and wanted the incident documented. An officer advised the resident to ignore any more calls from the number in question.
Armed robbery in Willowbrook
- A Burr Ridge officer helped Willowbrook police look for a person suspected in the armed robbery of Five Star Pantry, 10S620 Route 83, on the morning of Feb. 1. The suspect couldn't be found.
Truckload never delivered
- A business on South Frontage Road was looking to track down a truck and trailer after a load of auto parts was never delivered to Pennsylvania. An officer spoke to the driver, who said he notified someone the day before that he had a family emergency, dropped off the trailer at a Pilot truck stop in Fremont, Ind., and drove the truck home to Macon, Ga. An officer was able to verify the trailer was where the driver said it was. The business was able to find the truck in Georgia. The officer informed the business that the issue was a civil matter, not one for police. The police were notified of the incident Feb. 4.
Non-existent restraining order
- A resident on Tomlin Circle received a text stating that a restraining order had been issued against her. An officer checked a database and found no such order existed. She reported the incident Friday.
Ice fishing badges
- Police received a complaint about 4 p.m. Saturday that several youths were on the retention pond behind the Marriott, 1200 Burr Ridge Parkway. A man said he was ice fishing on the pond with Boy Scouts who were trying to get their ice fishing badges. He said he had made test holes and determined the ice was safe to fish on.
