We have been walking throughout Burr Ridge, knocking on doors and speaking with residents. We have been making phone calls in an attempt to connect with voters as well. Every day that we interact with our neighbors we leave with a richer understanding of our community’s concerns and needs. We are pounding the pavement to let everyone know that we are respectfully requesting your vote on April 6th.

If elected and given the privilege to serve you, we promise to be transparent, honest and professional in our service to you and the Village of Burr Ridge. Our priorities include maintaining a safe community, guiding our businesses out of this pandemic, protecting our property values and doing everything in our local power to keep your tax burden low.

Voting for us also helps us end the circus in the board room caused by our opponent. Our opponent has wasted over $60,000 in FOIA requests for information that is available to him for free. He has made Village staff uncomfortable to the extent that police presence is required when he is in the building. We are collectively seeking your vote to stop the wasteful spending by our opponent and to resume the focus on the residents of Burr Ridge. Please help elect Russell Smith and re-elect Trustees Anita Mital and Guy Franzese so that we may get back to Burr Ridge business.

Russell Smith is a financial advisor who is excited to bring fresh ideas and a new perspective to the Board. For over 18 years, he has volunteered his time to Burr Ridge through the Veterans’ Memorial Committee and local Chamber of Commerce. He has been a repeated sponsor of our fun-filled, family events like the Jingle Mingle and Summer Concerts on the Green. He has a passion for volunteerism and is eager to bring his financial experience to the Boardroom.

Trustee Anita Mital is a financial planner who will continue to demand excellent village services and fiscal responsibility. As Trustee, she also Chaired the Census Committee (which secured our share of over $675 billion per year in federal funds for schools, roads, and other vital programs) and the Events Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the many entertainment programs in Burr Ridge. These events are vitally important—not only in bringing a sense of community and camaraderie to our Village, but assist in our marketing efforts for our downtown area.

Trustee Guy Franzese is a licensed professional engineer who has served on Burr Ridge’s Plan Commission, Storm water Management and Franchise Waste Hauler Committees. He also was a member of the Street Policy and Water Committees and has devoted 24 years of his life to public service in Burr Ridge. Most notably, Trustee Franzese was the Chair for the Environmental Quality Commission, which supported the efforts of closing down Sterigenics—the company polluting our air with a cancer-causing substance known as EtO.

We are the top three (3) candidates on the ballot. For more detailed biographies about each candidate, please email us or visit https://www.facebook.com/Vote123forBurrRidgeTrustee.

Sincerely,

Russell Smith, Anita Mital and Guy Franzese
