Join us for Sarah Kang: Before &amp; After Tour playing at Bottom Lounge. Sarah Kang is a NYC-based singer-songwriter, whose genre is a seamless blend of jazz, R&amp;B, and pop paired with thoughtful lyricism and warm, cozy vocals. Born in South Korea and raised in LA, Chicago, and Dallas, she grew up playing the piano and the french horn but never imagined she'd ever become a professional musician. Being raised in an immigrant family, a creative career was never presented to her as a real possibility - only a pipe dream. However, after releasing her first collection of original songs called "Fair Weather", which she recorded in her closet, she quit her job as a music teacher and took the jump into full-time music. She released her debut EP called "One" in 2019, funded by a Kickstarter campaign. In 2020, she challenged herself to release a song every month, and that July, she released her most well-known song to date called "Summer Is for Falling in Love", which has over 27 million streams on Spotify. The song has also been featured in Nespresso, Uniqlo, and LG advertisements, as well as Korean dramas and TV shows. She released her second EP "maybe i'm better now" in 2021 with her producer and collaborator Patrick Hizon, in which she explored her more soulful and R&amp;B side. In 2022, she released her first full-length album "how i remember" and made it onto the cover of Spotify playlists "Retro Pop" and "Next Gen Singer-Songwriter" Her song" end credits" landed itself on Spotify's "New Music Friday" playlist. In 2023, she released her second album "Hopeless Romantic" and headlined her first North America tour. She recently released her third album titled "before &amp; after", inspired by the birth of her first child.Sarah often describes herself as someone who is perpetually nostalgic, sometimes preemptively nostalgic for moments that haven't even passed yet. This results in a timelessness in her songwriting, which evoke memories, tell intimate stories, and remind us of the finiteness of life, but also of hope for the future. Pearson St. at Michigan Ave. There?s nowhere star of Broadway stage and screen, Anthony Rapp (Rent, You?re a Good Man Charlie Brown, ?Star Trek: Discovery?) would rather be than home, in Chicago, for the Holidays this December. All are invited to experience an intimate holiday cabaret at Lookingglass Theatre accompanied by Rick Bertone and joined by some of Chicago?s favorite voices, this is a unique night that will leave audiences feeling merry and bright. Anthony Rapp is thrilled to return to live and work in the city of his birth. Chicago is also where he earned his Equity card 45 years ago, when he was nine years old. He has since appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in National Tours, at Regional Theatres and in films and on television. But his proudest work these days is as the father, with his husband Ken, of their two sons, Rai (aged 3) and Keony (aged 2). The performance schedule is Wednesday, Dec. 17 through Friday. Admission is free, but donations for local artists&nbsp;will be graciously accepted.Together is a Cabaret concert for our turbulent political times, about two entertainers meeting at the 1996 Gay Pride Festival in NYC, and what happens next in their long-term, long-distance relationship, leading to their eventual life together in the Oak Park area. These seasoned cabaret performers will amuse and musically transport the audience with stories about their lives as out Gay men in an?uncommon interracial relationship. The show will include songs by Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Cy Coleman, Dave Frishberg, Rick Ashley and many more from Stage, Screen and TV.Both David and Daniel are members of Chicago Cabaret Professionals, an advocacy group for the promotion of the art of Cabaret, as well as participants in the Chicago-based arts collectiveWorking In Concert, in which David served as co-creator and former Managing Director of Black Voices in Cabaret. Their previous solo shows include Soulful Seventies Sounds (David) and Wilde and Woolley (Daniel). They have also produced, directed and performed in Chicago-based musical shows over the past decade, and are long-time members of the Oak Park Area Lesbian and Gay Association (OPALGA+).Collaborative accompanist for the program will be the celebrated and in-demand pianist/musical director/vocalist, Chicago-based Mark Burnell.
