$7.9M In D155 Upgrades Planned Ahead Of 2021-21 School Year

CRYSTAL LAKE AND CARY, IL — Summer construction projects in all four District 155 high schools are underway as schools prep for the 2021-22 school year.

The D155 Board of Education approved several major projects across the district, which officials say are meant to maintain basic upkeep of facilities and improve the learning environment for students. The total approved budget for summer construction projects is $7.5 million, according to a D155 news release.

Renovations include main and auxiliary gym remodels, air conditioning, flooring installation, HVAC improvements and sidewalk construction.

"The Board of Education approved the budget for this year’s summer projects in January and we are excited to be breaking ground," said District 155 superintendent Steve Olson. "The consistent improvement of our facilities is an important element of the district’s strategic plan and we look forward to enhancing the educational environment we offer to our students."

Cary-Grove High School

• Air conditioning upgrades
• Polished concrete floor
• New virtual classroom training equipment in C Hall classrooms

Crystal Lake Central High School

• Air conditioning upgrades
• Auxiliary gym roof replacement
• Media center carpet upgrade

Crystal Lake South High School

• Main gym and auxiliary gym flooring
• Main gym bleachers
• Main gym and auxiliary gym basketball standards
• Cooling tower replacement
• Dedicated outdoor air HVAC work

Prairie Ridge High School

• Dvorak Drive sidewalk layout, guardrail and curb
• Media center carpet upgrade
