MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Department of Health is asking anyone who visited a McHenry County supper club over a week time period in May to quarantine.

Health officials say people people who were at Niko's R&R Supper Club, 7509 S. Grant Highway in Marengo, between May 14 through May 22 have recently tested positive for the coronavirus. They also say there also may have been an exposure to the virus during a large event on May 22.

That event was a prom, but McHenry County Department of Health spokeswoman Lindsey Salvatelli told the Northwest Herald she didn't "believe it was school-sponsored." She would not say how many people have tested positive since a June 1 complaint was filed with the health department regarding the possible outbreak.

But health officials are urging anyone who was at Niko's between May 14 and May 22 to quarantine through June 5. And people who visited the business and either have symptoms or begin to develop symptoms should be tested and isolate themselves from other people in their home to avoid spreading the virus, according to a health department news release.

“We are continuing to investigate this event, but what matters most at this time is for anyone who visited the business during the dates of potential exposure to quarantine through June 5. If anyone begins to develop symptoms such as a cough, fever or chills, headache, new loss of taste or smell or muscle aches, please isolate and have yourself tested," Savetelli said.

The health department is working with the facility to ensure that the appropriate protocols are in place so that there will be no further risk to the staff or the general public, according to a statement released Thursday.

Health officials are also continuing to urge those who are not fully vaccinated to continue to wear masks in public settings with people they do not live with, especially when a six-foot distance cannot be maintained.

Anyone who is 12 and older is eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. For more information about upcoming vaccination clinics in McHenry County visit https://bit.ly/MCDHCOVIDVaxLoc. For links to testing locations, please visit https://bit.ly/MCDHCovidTesting1.
