Cary Police Seek Info In Trespassing Incident

Police believe one of three people involved may have been armed.

CARY, IL — Authorities in Cary are asking for the public's help in tracking down three people who entered vehicles in the Sterling Ridge subdivision, which is located off of Silver Lake Road, early Thursday. Police believe one of the suspects may have been carrying a handgun, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department.

Video footage from a home surveillance system shows the three trespassers were wearing dark-colored clothing, face coverings and gloves, according to the news release. The resident at the home checked the video after finding their garage door and vehicle doors open.

The video footage shows three people getting out of a vehicle parked in the road in front of the home just before 1 a.m. Thursday, according to the news release. They entered a vehicle in the driveway and then used the garage door opener to get into the garage.

One person then tried to get into a vehicle in the garage and another person inside the garage was carrying what appeared to be a handgun, police said.

"While this cannot be confirmed from the video, this is based on the manner in which the subject is carrying the item," according to the news release.

The police department has released the following photos from the incident and is asking anyone to contact them at 847-639-2341 if they have any information regarding the incident or any similar incidents.

The Cary Police Department is also encouraging residents to report suspicious activity by calling 911 and not to approach the suspects.
