Child Abduction Report Was Unfounded: Police

A 9-year-old Woodstock girl said a man tried to lure her into his van Thursday morning. Police believe that report is not true.

WOODSTOCK, IL — Police have determined an attempted abduction report made by a 9-year-old Woodstock girl Thursday was likely unfounded.

The girl, a District 200 student, initially told police she was walking to her bus stop near the intersection of Cobblestone Way and Castle Road Thursday morning when a minivan pulled up, and the driver honked the van's horn. A man, who the girl said was possibly white with short, dark hair and a mustache, then told her to get in, according to police.

Several hours later, and after authorities interviewed the girl and several witnesses and reviewed video surveillance footage, police determined the report was likely not true.
