'Whimsical' Bakery Opens In Downtown Crystal Lake

Cheshire Cakes is located in the Brink Street Market in downtown Crystal Lake at 40 N Williams Street, Suite 40.

Crystal Lake residents and visitors have a new reason to come Downtown Crystal Lake to stop into Crystal Lake’s newest bakery, Cheshire Cakes which opened to a warm community welcome.

Cheshire Cakes is located in the Brink Street Market in downtown Crystal Lake at 40 N Williams Street, Suite 40. The new bakery is serving up creatively inspired and delicious cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cheesecakes, and a wide selection of sweet and savory croissants. Locals have already embraced the bakery and the wide variety of offerings including both vegan and gluten-free bakery goods!

From the moment visitors walk in the door they are greeted with a whimsical Wonderland theme, brightly colored bistro tables outside and a colorful mural designed by local artist, Jade Evans. Cheshire Cakes is the creation of food enthusiast and Pastry Chef, Kellyann Kozel.

The owners and brother/sister team, Kellyann Kozel and Charles Kozel shared a passion for pop art, baking and a dream of opening a bakery. After years in the industry, Kellyann decided to come back to her hometown and open her first bakery. “Many people I’ve spoken with in this area have been waiting for a great bakery to open and what better place than in my hometown within the heart of downtown Crystal Lake,” said Kellyann Kozel. It is clear from the moment you enter the shop, it is undoubtedly rich with passion, dedication and sweet treats!
