CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - Reps from a transportation service shared between two local school districts are inviting kindergartners, early childhood students and their families to "meet the bus" next month in a special event centered on safety and education.

The Transportation Joint Agreement (TJA) services Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 and Community High School District 155 is hosting its fifth annual transportation open house on Monday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To minimize congestion, families are asked to attend the event during the time slot that aligns with their last name.

  • A-F: 9-10 a.m.
  • G-L: 10-11 a.m.
  • M-R: 11 a.m.-noon
  • S-Z: Noon to 1 p.m.

The free open house will allow students to meet the districts' buses and drivers, learn about safety, ask questions, and even board and ride before the first day of school. A first aid and bus safety equipment station, safe seating demonstration, snacks, games and other activities will all be on deck for attendees.
