Driver Injured In Crash Charged With DUI
The Lake County Sheriff's Office has filed charged against a McHenry man in connection with a February crash.
CARY, IL — A McHenry man has been charged with DUI for allegations he drove drunk into a tree near Cary on Feb. 28, authorities said. Prosecutors said Gregory P. Miller, of the 3700 block of West Lee Street in McHenry, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or greater and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash in connection with the February crash after it was determined alcohol was a determining factor in the crash.
Miller, 57, was heading east on Fox River Road near West Shore Street in unincorporated Cary at 10:50 p.m. on Feb. 28 when the vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree, authorities said. Authorities later learned his blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit, Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli told Patch.
Miller became trapped inside the severely damaged vehicle. The "jaws of life" were used to get him out, and he was taken by Flight for Life helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
