Employee's 'False Positive' COVID-19 Test Closes Donut Shop
Country Donuts in Crystal Lake closed last week after owners thought an employee had contracted the new coronavirus.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A popular Crystal Lake donut shop was forced to close last week after an employee reportedly contracted COVID-19. But it turns out, the employee who originally took a "quick test" for the new coronavirus, which led to Country Donuts temporarily shutting its doors, tested negative for COVID-19 after taking an Illinois Department of Public Health test, according to a post Thursday on the Country Donuts Facebook page.
"We are COVID 19 free and have been all along," according to the Facebook post.
The donut shop originally closed its doors on July 29 so employees could disinfect "every surface of the shop," according to a Facebook post. Country Donuts reopened on Thursday but only staff who hadn't had any contact with the employee were allowed to work.
