First Snowfall In Libertyville: How Much Is Expected?

Between .5 and 2.5 inches is expected, depending on where you live in the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — It looks like the Libertyville area will be spared from the heaviest snowfall expected early Tuesday. Between .5 and 2.5 inches is expected in different portions of the Chicago area during this initial snowfall, with Libertyville likely to see snowfall on the lower end of that range.

The heaviest snow is expected north of Interstate 80 and along and west of Interstate 355 mainly between 3 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

As for Libertyville, snow is likely to start after 3 a.m. Tuesday with a 70 percent chance for precipitation. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is expected and snow should shift to a mix of rain and snow between 7 a.m. and noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, much of McHenry County and northwest Kane County could see snow falling steadily early Tuesday, which could lead to light accumulation on roads and visibility may drop off periodically Tuesday morning. Temps will be between 32 and 35 degrees.
