Free Virtual Learning Circle for Women Farmland Owners Oct. 15
TLC and McHenry-Lake Soil and Water Conservation District Co-Host Free Virtual Learning Circle for Women Farmland Owners Oct. 15

Women who own farmland are invited to a free virtual Learning Circle co-hosted by The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC) and McHenry-Lake Soil and Water Conservation District. The Learning Circle will be held online Thursday, Oct. 15 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Participants can register online at www.ConserveMC.org. The deadline to register is October 12.
The discussion will focus on conservation practices to improve the health and productivity of farmland, featuring advice from local professional women conservationists. Good land stewardship is an important part of owning farmland. Practices such as no-till, cover crops and pollinator habitat are examples of building soil health, managing water quality and including wildlife habitat and beneficial insects into farmland.
Participants are encouraged to bring questions, ideas and concerns about their farm and farming in general. The event is open to women with all levels of experience, whether actively managing a farm, or recently inherited a farm and are learning about how to run a healthy and productive operation.

Learning Circles provide women the opportunity to meet other landowners, share their farm successes and challenges, discuss goals for their land, and get advice and technical assistance. Nearly half of all farmland in Illinois is owned or co-owned by women, and many women now manage farmland on their own.
The Land Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health and preservation of natural and agricultural land in McHenry County.
