Fundraisers Planned To Help Dole Survive Pandemic

Musicians will be performing at two separate fundraising events at The Dole in Crystal Lake in September.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL —Two fundraising events in September are meant to help support The Dole in Crystal Lake "survive the pandemic." The Music Under the Trees fundraisers will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 2 and Sept. 16.

Jimmy Nick, an old-fashioned guitar slinging blues prodigy, will perform on Sept. 2. Nick spent his teenage years being schooled by legendary bluesmen in the famous Chicago clubs of Kingston Mines, Rosa’s Lounge, and B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted.

Over the last year, Jimmy recorded his first live album for a full house at The Raue Center for the Performing Arts, performed over 200 shows, advanced to the semifinals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, as well as headlined at Buddy Guy’s Legends, and B.L.U.E.S on Halstead, according to information posted on the Dole website.

Cassandra Vohs-Demann & Denny Svehla, also known as Denny Diamond, will be performing at the Dole on Sept. 16. Cassandra has spent over three decades working as a professional musician, performer, vocalist, composer, director, coach and producer.

She is a prolific songwriter who uses her artistic voice to share stories of life and hopefully inspire others through her music. Cassandra is also a strong believer in the power of community and spends much of her time using her gifts to bring people together and provide opportunities for people to shine.

Denny Svehla, or Denny Diamond, has spent over 20 years traveling the country performing the songs and telling stories of the inspiration behind the music of Neil Diamond.

Food will be available for purchase at the event and no outside drinks or food will be allowed. Those entering or moving around the ground are asked to wear a mask and those attending in groups should only have six people per group and should keep their distance from others. Attendees are also asked to bring their own blankets or chairs.
