Funeral Arrangements Set for Man Pulled From Crystal Lake House Fire

John H. Kelly Jr., 56, of Woodstock died of a heart-related medical problem.

Funeral arrangements have been set for a 56-year-old Woodstock man who was pulled from a Crystal Lake house fire Tuesday afternoon.

John H. Kelly Jr. died from a heart-related medical problem and not from injuries sustained during the fire. It is believed that he was completing plumbing work at the home in the 1100 block of North Shore Drive when the blaze broke out.

A neighbor pulled him from the house fire.

Kelly, also known as the “singing plumber,” was a plumbing inspector for McHenry County and the city of Marengo and also owned Kelly’s Plumbing, according to his obituary.

A visitation has been set for 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. in Union. The visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. A service will be held at 11 a.m. and interment will be at Union Cemetery in Union, according to Kelly’s obituary.

Kelly is survived by his children, Tara (Marc) Melilli, Caitlynn Kelly, Colin Kelly, and Maggie Kelly; his mother, Joyce Kelly; his partner, Cindy Magee and her children, Emily, Joe, and Marissa.
