Hendersonville has Character

Hendersonville has Confidence

(Jennifer Downey Designs)

Characters of Character is donating Mindfulness, confidence building activity boxes to the Hendersonville Library! Our mission is to provide a firm foundation for children to establish strong civic values, and, well, it is 2020! So, we're reaching out to Libraries and to Children's Hospitals to donate positive character building resources to. During this Pandemic we created additional resources for families, communities and schools to use to help implement character lessons into their homes and venues to help build good character in our children, these can be found on our website at Character Corner. Feel free to share pictures and how you children did!

One of our projects is the Hendersonville Library and if you are able to donate, sponsor or share our information with others would be a big help to get the information circulating. Brown's Florist is the first to donate towards this project and we are grateful to them for it! We have already donated our Self-Esteem Elephant confidence building lessons to them which they are utilizing in their community. The Affirmation Boxes are a great way to help build confidence and self-esteem in our children. It's a different season and if we can help boost their attitudes and spirits, we will be happy!

Affirmations are huge today, as an adult I've experienced the power in them and wish I knew about them when growing up. Characters of Character teaches vital core values and today children are familiar with affirmations, a positive mindset and the term, 'good vibes' and so who better to help share these messages than our very own Self-Esteem Elephant!

Just last year I had the opportunity to learn about the John Maxwell Team and have become friends with many of them. They taught me that the next few words you put after 'I AM' you become. Teaching our children to be confident, brave, strong, kind, passionate, etc. builds their own character and helps form who they are and grow into who they would like to become. Characters of Character hopes that you are a role model, not only for your own children, but, to your peers, your family, co-workers and community. There is additional information on the contents of the box and how you can become a part of this project online. This is for Hendersonville Library and they are excited and very appreciative of this donation to them. Please support it by sharing, donating, sponsoring or talking with your own children about their confidence. We have a facebook page for this project which you are welcome to join and follow along on the progress!

Our other project is donating to Children's Hospitals in Tennessee and in Texas. We are mailing out the Superhero Acitivty Boxes this month for Ann and Robert Lurie's Children's Hospital and Huntley Hospital in the Chicago area. In the past we have donated to Shriner's Children's Hospital in Chicago and Loyola. We've been able to bring our characters in costume and do activities with the children in the past, however, this year is different. Still, we need to give them positive activities as they heal in the hospitals. We learned that so many of them are not allowed visitors or may not even be able to leave their rooms due to the Covid. So, if we can provide these Superhero Activity Boxes to the children, not only will they bring us joy, the girls the boys, the staff and family always appreciate the donations. Please consider to become a sponsor or donate to these. Just like the above project, we depend on sponsors and donations to bring these boxes to the hospitals. Additional information is available on line here.

The Superhero Activity Boxes are also so fun, sturdy and colorful! Each includes a Superhero Activity Book, crayons, watercolor paints, paintbrush, black and white poster, a canvas to paint that says, I AM SUPER, an easel to display the canvas, a superhero mask, superhero sticker, and a character lanyard from one the agents above! Plus, a hand written letter from one of the Characters of Character. They are packed with good stuff! Again, your support, your sharing, your donations and sponsorships get these boxes into the hands of our children who are healing in the hospital. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or perhaps you'd like to sponsor a specific location.

In the meantime, be safe, stay well and remember that a child is listening to you, watching you and wanting to be like you. Be a role model and stay positive!
