Seed Sharing Day is an opportunity for people to collect and share native seed for their prairie, savanna and wet habitats.

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC) is hosting a native plant Seed Sharing Day on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Registered participants will be emailed the address of the location before the event. The event is free, and participants can register to attend by Oct. 17 at www.conservemc.org.

Seed Sharing Day is an opportunity for people to collect and share native seed for their prairie, savanna and wet habitats. Beginners are encouraged to join landowners to collect native plant seed. An area of pre-collected, labelled seed will also be available with people there to help participants choose the right species for their area. Participants are welcome to bring their own labelled seed to share.

The event includes a potluck lunch and informal discussion on topics such as tried-and-true methods of site preparation.
