MCCD Offers Frog Monitoring Workshop

The workshop will be held on Feb 13 at Prairieview Education Center and will be open to all 12 years old and older.

From MCCD: Become a Citizen Scientist and be a frog monitor! Participate in McHenry County Conservation District’s Frog Monitoring Workshop on Monday, February 13 from 7–9 p.m. at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake, where you’ll learn the techniques and protocol for monitoring the 13 species of frogs and toads of our region by their calls. After completing the training, volunteers participate in monitoring various wetlands.

In conjunction with Chicago Wilderness, the Conservation District is sponsoring this program to gather information on the abundance and distribution of frogs and toads throughout the region. The recorded data is utilized by land managers throughout the region. For more information, contact Wildlife Resource Center Manager Sara Denham, (815) 728-8307 or check out http://frogsurvey.org/.

This free program is for All Ages 12 and older, but pre-registration is required to ensure enough materials are available for participants. Visit www.MCCDistrict.org or call (815) 479-5779.
