MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Conservation District has decided to open its sites earlier than normal this year. Typically, sites open on April 1, but with warmer temps on the horizon, the conservation district has opened all location along with their restrooms and parking lots.

“After last week’s warm temperatures, the public is just ready to get out and hike the trails. Typically sites are scheduled to open April 1, but looking at the long-range forecast, we have re-opened all sites a full two weeks early,” said Perry Weborg, sites and fleet manager for the McHenry County Conservation District.

Throughout the winter months, Conservation District sites are open to pedestrian traffic, but in January, parking lots and restrooms close “for the season” at 19 of the county's 35 conservation areas.
