McHenry Co. Chair Race Is Close: Buehler Leads Franks
Democratic incumbent Jack Franks could be on his way out. Republican Mike Buehler lead the chairman race as of early Wednesday.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Early results show political newcomer Mike Buehler leading incumbent Jack Franks in the race to become the next McHenry County Board Chairman. As of 12:06 a.m. Wednesday, Franks, a Democrat, trailed his Republican challenger with 71,559 of the vote total compared to Buehler's 81,109.
With potentially 18,000 more mail-in ballots still to be counted, it's too early to say who the winner will be. McHenry County Clerk Joe Tirio told Patch Tuesday the final results in McHenry County races will be posted on the clerk's website on Nov. 18.

Clerk's offices historically have two weeks to tally provisional ballots, which typically make up a small fraction of the vote totals. But with an influx in mail-in ballots used this election, leaders in close races could be flipped when all is said and done.
All mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 to be counted.
