McHenry Co. Conservation District Hosts Lunch and Learn Canoe Trip in July
The canoe trip will be on July 16.

Take a tour down Nippersink Creek this summer at McHenry County Conservation District’s Lunch and Learn Canoe Trip on Saturday, July 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. along Nippersink Cane Trail starting at Keystone Road Landing in Glacial Park, 6500 Keystone Rd., Richmond.
Join us for a catered picnic lunch and learn about the diversity of wildlife that depend upon the Nippersink Creek for survival. After lunch explore the creek by canoe with the assistance of a take-along interpretive guide or the new Nippersink Smartphone app that highlights ten stops along the way.

The canoe portion of this trip is self-guided. Participants must have the physical ability to paddle for seven miles and the skills to navigate the meandering course. The canoe trip ends at Pioneer Road Landing where staff meet you to pick up your canoe and answer questions you may have about what you saw on your journey. Bring water and sunscreen and wear sturdy shoes that strap to your feet. Canoe and safety equipment provided.
Registration and fee is required by July 10. The cost for a county resident is $30 while a non-resident is $38.

Register online at www.MCCDistrict.org, by mail and walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or drop-off only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.
