Region 9 Nears Lowest COVID Positivity Rate
The seven-day rolling average for the COVID-19 positivity rate in Lake, McHenry counties is 3.4 percent.
LAKE, MCHENRY COUNTIES, IL — Region 9, which includes Lake and McHenry counties, is nearing its lowest-ever coronavirus positivity rate.
The most recent Illinois Department of Public Health data shows the region's seven-day rolling average positivity rate is 3.4 percent as of Feb. 27, which is the most recent data available.
Prior to that, the lowest rate, 3.1 percent, was recorded in late June.

McHenry County's positivity rate currently stands at 5 percent. The county's lowest positivty rate was 3.1 percent, which was recorded on June 27.
Meanwhile, Lake County's positivity rate has dipped below 3 percent. The recent 2.9 percent COVID-19 rate for Lake is the third time ever it has been that low, according to the IDPH.

The positivity rate for Region 9 remained low through much of the summer but began to tick up in the fall. In November, that rate ranged from 11 to more than 17 percent, reaching the highest positivity rate to date on Nov. 13 when an average of 17.1 percent tested positive for COVID-19.
