McHenry County: Flood Warning, Hazardous Weather Outlook
The McHenry County Conservation District reports a number of site closings due to the wet weather.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The National Weather Service Chicago issued a flood warning across McHenry County as the Fox River at Algonquin Lock & Dam Tailwater, as the Fox River was above 9.5 feet Thursday afternoon at this location. The river is expected to rise to flood stage Saturday afternoon, according to NWS.
There are also several closings announced by the McHenry County Conservation District:
- The May 2 Wetland Birds walk is cancelled due to trail conditions.
- Horse Trail - Closed
- As of May 1, Canoe Launches Closed - HUM Trail between Dunham & Prospect
According to NWS, a hazardous weather outlook is also in effect for McHenry County, as scattered showers will be seen through Thursday evening, and may cause spotty flooding. Many area rivers will continue to rise , with flooding likely along several, according to the NWS.

There are thunderstorm risks throughout Thursday and the weekend until Wednesday.
The NWS advises residents to turn around and find an alternate route if you encounter a flooded roadway.

Trail visitors should exercise caution as other areas of standing water may exist throughout the area.
