McHenry County Offers Warming Centers During Extreme Temperatures

Five locations are available for those in need to find shelter from the cold weather.

Several locations in McHenry County are serving as warming centers to help those in need during the ongoing cold snap.

Visitors to these centers must be masked.

The list includes:

• McHenry Municipal Center, 333 S. Green Street. Visitors must check in at the police dispatch center or records division.
• Richmond Township, 7812 Route 31, Richmond: Open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Salvation Army, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake: Open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Lake in the Hills Community Room, 600 Harvest Gate: Please call 847-658-5676 for access. Sleeping accommodations are not available.
• Port Barrington Community Center, 69 S. Circle Ave. Open upon request.
