Melodie Gliniewicz Trial Date Set For November
The trial for the wife of disgraced Fox Lake Lt. Joe Gliniewicz has been delayed several times.

FOX LAKE, IL — The trial start date for the wife of disgraced Fox Lake police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz is set for November. Melodie Gliniewciz is accused of helping her husband steal thousands from the Fox Lake Police Department's Explorer's post.
They used the money to pay for movie tickets, a trip to Hawaii, porn websites and restaurant charges, authorities say.
During a Thursday hearing in Lake County, Judge James Booras set the trial for Nov. 15. Charges were first filed again Melodie in 2016 and the has been delayed several times.

In 2019, prosecutors appealed a judge's decision not to use some text messages between Joe and Melodie, 56, of Antioch Township. Last summer, a state appeals court ruled the text messagescould be used at Melodie's trial.
The charges of unlawful use of charitable funds, conspiracy and money laundering were filed against Melodie after Joe Gliniewicz was found fatally shot in Fox Lake. Authorities initially believed Gliniewicz was shot in the line of duty but later learned he took his own life as information regarding his alleged money laundering scheme came to light.

Melodie remains free on bail as she awaits her trial. She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
