Pindel met her husband, Joseph, who immigrated from Poland after World War II, at a dance hall, and they married in 1950, according to a Daily Herald article.

"He asked to take her home, and she thought he had a car and he didn't even have a car," Angela Pindel told the newspaper, recalling the first time her parents met. "He used all his money to take her home on the bus. And then he had to walk home from her house, because he had no money left."

But the couple faced much adversity, including the tragic deaths of three of their six children. Joey, their sixth child, died at 18 months after choking on a hot dog; their second born, a daughter, died in a car accident; and another son was stabbed to death in a bar during a brawl, according to an obituary and the Daily Herald.

A memorial mass and burial will be held in mid-2021. In lieu of flowers, Pindel's family requests donations be made to Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
