More D47 Students Returning To Hybrid Learning Monday
Students in grades three through five will return Monday, followed by sixth through eighth graders on Feb. 8.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — More Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 students will return to classrooms for the first time in over two months on Monday.
Students in grades three through five will make the return, the second in a staggered plan to bring all students back to in-person learning, should they choose to.
The first group of students — pre-kindergarteners to second graders, along with students in self-contained special education programs — began hybrid learning on Jan. 11. Lastly, students in grades six through eight will return on Feb. 8.

Patch reported previously that District 47 began the year on a fully remote basis before introducing hybrid learning on Oct. 5. Less than a month later, prompted by a rise in coronavirus cases in the region, the district shifted to online-only learning on Nov. 2.
"We are all in agreement that face-to-face teaching and learning is what's best for our students and we are all disappointed to have to temporarily suspend in-person instruction," District 47 Superintendent Kathy Hinz said in November.
