New Businesses Meet Increased Community Needs During Pandemic

Home improvement, decor, health stores and more opened in Crystal Lake this year.

The pandemic has created a shift in people’s activities, interests and hobbies. With everyone at home, many individuals found more time to explore new interests like healthy living, crafting, home improvement projects and even bringing new pets into their homes. The City of Crystal Lake welcomed a number of new businesses that opened during the pandemic supporting these new interests.

Crystal Lake recently welcomed two new home improvement/decor stores to the community for those looking to freshen up the look of their home.

A-Z Interiors, located at 33 N. Williams Street, is the one-stop shop for everything you might need for your home. Offering everything from unique home décor accessories to professional design and everything in between.

JC Licht, at 73 N. Williams Street, is a new paint and window treatment store in downtown Crystal Lake. The staff here are ready to assist customers in selecting new wallpapers, paints, stains, and window treatments.

Many people opted to work on improving their personal health through healthy eating, trying new health supplements, and working out. Several new businesses recently opened to support residents’ healthy lifestyle.

R C Fitness, at 835 S. Virginia Road, Unit J, knows we all have to start our fitness journey somewhere and works with individuals and in small groups to help you achieve your specific fitness goals.

Gym Lyfe Supplements, located at 129 N. Main Street, offers a wide selection of workout supplements to enhance an individual’s energy and performance.

Madoli Farms Smoothie Shop, at 701 Manor Road (inside the YMCA), offers a wide selection of fruit and veggie smoothies for health conscious individuals with produce grown on their local farm.

Crystal Lake welcomed a new store for those exploring their artistic side and trying new DIY art projects.

The Event Space, located at 81 N. Williams Street, is a crafters delight! They specialize in paint classes and other make-and-take classes.

Some residents opened their hearts and homes to a new pet during the pandemic. Whether through fostering or adopting, they enjoyed snuggling on the couch or going out for walks around the neighborhood. There are two new options to help you pamper your pet.

DIY Barkin Bath & Splash Haus, located at 450 N. Route 31, Unit 120, allows pet owners to wash their pet at a pet washing station and leave the fur and water mess behind.
