Public Visitation For AJ is Friday: What You Need to Know
The visitation at Davenport Funeral Home is open to the public. Traffic delays are expected throughout the area of the funeral home.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – A large turnout is expected Friday for a public visitation for AJ Freund. The visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. at Davenport Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Avenue (Route 176). Those not planning to attend the visitation are asked to avoid the area surrounding Davenport Funeral Home.
Overflow parking will be set up at Willow Creek Crystal Lake, 100 S. Main Street, and bus service will be available to and from the funeral home.
Davenport Funeral Home has donated its services to cover the costs of AJ's funeral, Kim Clauson, a friend of the family, wrote on a GoFundMe page that has brought in over $60,000 for AJ's younger brother and unborn sister. The GoFundMe was originally set up to pay for funeral expenses but now will go into a fund for AJ's siblings.

Kim Nordin, funeral director at Davenport, said Office Max in Crystal Lake donated prayer cardsfor the services Friday; Countryside Flower Shop in Crystal Lake donated the main floral pieces; the Crystal Lake Jewel-Osco has donated water and food; and Rosati's Pizza and Texas Roadhouse in Crystal Lake are donating food for AJ's family, police and volunteers, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Crystal Lake Police Department officers will be on location during the visitation to assist with the large volume of traffic expected, according to a news release from the police department. Crystal Lake Deputy police Chief Thomas Kotlowski told the Chicago Tribune an honor guard will stand at AJ's casket throughout the visitation.

“(So) someone is protecting him because those who were supposed to didn’t,” Kotlowski said.
