CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Just in time for some weekend recreation, the Crystal Lake Park District on Friday announced it has opened a lighted ice skating rink on the lake.

The rink, located at Main Beach at 300 Lakeshore Drive, will open at dawn, according to the park district. Lighting will also be provided between 4 and 9 p.m. for those who prefer an evening skate.

The park district also announced it will provide restrooms for skaters to use. Even after the lights are shut off at 9 p.m., restrooms will remain available.

As always, skating availability is dependent on weather conditions. Updates about the rink, along with sled hills and other outdoor activities, are posted on RainoutLine.

The park district noted it does not separate the rink to provide room for free skaters and ice hockey players. Still, skaters tend to divide themselves into separate sections, the park district said.
