Summer Is The Perfect Time To Experience The Cliffs Of Fontana

Jim and Julie Keller had taken countless trips to Fontana, Wisconsin and enjoyed all the Lake Geneva area had to offer. So when the opportunity arose to purchase a brand-new home there…they jumped on it.
They bought at The Cliffs of Fontana from Plote Homes after visiting the property in 2017. And it’s a good thing they did. The community now is approaching sellout with only a few homes remaining.
“We absolutely love the proximity to the lake. We can even glimpse it from our back porch,” said Jim Keller. That’s because the neighborhood’s 66 single-family homes are set high on a bluff overlooking Geneva Lake. “Plus, it’s a manageable drive from St. Charles so we can come up here whenever we wish.”

Jim, who has an investment business, and Julie, a teacher, own a large home in St. Charles. As they became empty nesters, they found themselves with more time to spend travelling to the Lake Geneva area. When they read about The Cliffs of Fontana, they knew they needed to check it out. The couple visited the community’s new decorated model last summer around the time of the Parade Of Homes. A year later, they are the new owners of their own home at The Cliffs of Fontana…and are already thrilled with their decision.
“This has been a great decision for us,” said Keller. “We’ve owned here just over a month and already we’ve played bocce ball and lounged at the pool, which is about 100 yards from our door. Only the owners at The Cliffs and their families have access to the gated pool area so it has a real sense of privacy...away from the bustle of the beach and activity in town.”

In fact, the intimate neighborhood feel is one of the things that attracted the Kellers to The Cliffs of Fontana. The homes were the other. The couple purchased an Augusta ranch, which has over 2,200 square feet of living space and boasts an optional open-concept layout.
“In our St. Charles home, we have so many rooms but find we do most of our living in just of few of them,” said Keller. “The open-concept Augusta, on the other hand, maximizes usable space in the Great Room and kitchen where we spend most of our time.”
Creating drama and visually expanding the Great Room is a cathedral ceiling that soars nearly 20 feet high. The Kellers added a floor-to-ceiling fireplace that serves as the room’s focal point. The neighboring gourmet kitchen has a large center island along with a U-shaped work area. The entire space is comfortable for everyday activities, plus it works perfectly for larger get togethers.
The living space opens to the screened-in porch—an option the Kellers couldn’t do without. The multiseasonal room provides a cozy spot to sit and sip morning coffee or unwind in the evening throughout much of the year.
Personal spaces in the Augusta include a den for working from home, catching up on reading the paper, or browsing online. The luxurious master suite has a tray ceiling for added style and a huge walk-in closet. The en suite bath was upgraded and has a tub, separate shower and dual bowl vanity. The secondary bedroom is just steps from a full bath making it idea for overnight guests and visitors.
To add even more usable space to their new home, the Kellers added a walkout basement. The downstairs is finished with a spacious family room and includes a den/bedroom with another full bath. The couple can access the patio under the screened-in porch from the lower level, as well, for a second level of outdoor living.
“Everything about this home…the open-concept layout, the big windows that let in lots of natural light, the walkout basement and screened-in porch…fit our lifestyle,” said Keller.
The Augusta is one of four floor plans offered at The Cliffs of Fontana. Homes have 1,710 to 2,284 square feet of living space, two or three bedrooms, two or 2-1/2 baths, and two-car garages for base prices that range from $387,900 to $421,900.
“We were impressed with the overall quality of the homes right from the start,” said Keller. “Plote Homes does things right. And they have a great reputation as a builder.”
