The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is hosting a virtual Learning Circle for women farmland owners on Wednesday, April 28.

Women who own farmland are invited to a free virtual Learning Circle hosted by The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC). The Learning Circle will be held online Wednesday, April 28 from noon-1:00 p.m. Participants can register online at this link or email lbalek@conservemc.org. The deadline to register is Monday, April 26.

The discussion will cover how a farm is assessed and how the assessment affects property taxes. McHenry County Chief Assessment Officer Robert Ross will give a presentation on the topic, and a Q&A session will follow the presentation.

TLC’s Learning Circles provide women the opportunity to meet other landowners, share their farm successes and challenges, discuss goals for their land, and get advice and technical assistance. Nearly half of all farmland in Illinois is owned or co-owned by women, and many women now manage farmland on their own.
