The Land Conservancy of McHenry County will offer native plants, shrubs, trees, rain barrels and composters to the public March 1 through May 6 during its Spring Sustainability Sale. Items are available on the organization’s website, www.ConserveMC.org under “Store” or by phone order at 815-337-9502.

The sale offers a variety of native plants, shrubs and trees sourced from Red Buffalo Nursery in Hebron and Majestic Oaks Nursery in Spring Grove. Plants start at $7.50 (for three plugs), shrubs start at $26 and trees start at $28. Plants are listed as appropriate for a prairie pollinator (sun), savanna (part shade), or rain garden.

Rain barrels and composters are also available for purchase starting at $64 from Upcycle Products. Rain barrels are available in a variety colors including blue, grey, black, terra cotta and green. Rain barrels capture rainwater and divert it for use on gardens. Tumbling and standard composters are also available. Composters decompose food and turn it into organic matter for garden use.
