Two Teen Suicides Prompt Community Forum

McHenry County Sheriff's Police to host a forum on signs and resources around suicide.

Following the death of two teenagers in Crystal Lake, the McHenry County Sherriff’s Police office has scheduled a community forum on suicide on March 18.

The Signs and Resources around Suicide forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the sheriff’s office, 2200 N. Seminary Avenue in Woodstock.

On March 10, a Crystal Lake teen who had been missing since March 1 killed himself. The body of Adrian Salazar was found at Canterbury Park. He died from a single gunshot wound.

On March 13, a second teen committed suicide. Information about the teen’s name and manner of death have not been released.

“Attendees will learn more about available resources in McHenry County, the warning signs of at risk persons, the importance of communication, and ways of getting help,” sheriff’s police said in a written release. “Participating agencies include: McHenry County Crisis Line, McHenry County Suicide Task Force, Youth and Parents from “Your Voice” of the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition, Pioneer Center, NAMI McHenry County, McHenry County Mental Health Board, and representatives from local law enforcement.”
