Village of Cary Approves Retirement Deal with Deputy Chief Ed Fetzer

Deputy Chief Ed Fetzer, who had been serving as acting police chief, will retire Dec. 31, 2013.

The village of Cary has reached a retirement agreement with Deputy Police Chief Ed Fetzer, who had been serving as acting police chief up until Sept. 5, the Northwest Herald reports.

Fetzer, with the Cary Police Department for 28 years, officially will retire Dec. 31, 2013, the Herald reports. He has been on paid leave since Sept. 5, and village officials would not say why the veteran officer took a leave. Since that time, Sgt. Mike Roth has been serving as acting police chief and will continue to do so until a new police chief is selected.
