Woman Guilty Of Sharing Photos To Reveal Ex's Infidelity

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 43-year-old Island Lake woman who sent text messages and intimate photos to a friend of her former fiancé, with the hopes of exposing his infidelity, has been guilty on a felony charge.

Bethany Austin was found guilty of non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images during a three-day bench trial before McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

Austin sent the photographs of the woman as well as a copy of text messages and a letter to the friend of his ex-fiance on Aug 26, 2016, according to a news release. Evidence presented at a trial show Austin was trying to expose her former fiancé's infidelity during their relationship.

According to a criminal complaint, the private, sexual images of the woman were sent without her consent.

Austin is next expected in court in McHenry County on April 26 for a sentencing.
