Work Gets Underway On Crystal Lake Hospital

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Construction is underway on a $105 million hospital in Crystal Lake. The Mercyhealth Hospital at Three Oaks Road and Route 31 is expected to open in the summer of 2023.

The addition of the hospital will bring a 24/7 emergency room to town. During a ground-breaking ceremony Wednesday, Mercyhealth president and CEO Javo Bea said the much-anticipated project has been in the works for 25 years.

“We have been privileged to provide high-quality physician and outpatient care to area residents for many years, and we are excited to take our services to the next level with this new multi-specialty clinic and hospital," he said in a statement. "Most importantly, we are excited to give Crystal Lake residents access to emergency services, which have been severely lacking in Crystal Lake for decades.”

The new facility will include private inpatient suites, private intensive care suites, surgery suites and diagnostic services. Medical center services offered include family medicine, orthopedics and sports medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, cardiology, cancer care, infusion therapy, chronic pain services, physical therapy and lab and X-ray services.

The addition of the hospital will bring 350 new jobs in construction and trades while the facility is being built. In addition, 134 new, permanent jobs will be created through this project.
