2021 Classic Car Shows 'On Hold' In Downers Grove Amid COVID-19

The annual Summer Nights Classic Car Show was canceled in 2020 as well.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — For the second year in a row, the streets of downtown Downers Grove may not be lined with vintage autos for the annual Summer Nights Classic Car Show.

The weekly Friday night show is "on hold"for 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Ann Hattan, Office Manager of the Downers Grove Downtown Management Corporation told Patch via email Thursday.

At the start of the 2020 classic car show season, the popular Friday night event was initially delayed as restrictions increased across the state. When Summer Nights Classic Car Show was canceled in 2020, event organizers wrote on Facebook, "[d]ue to COVID-19 restrictions in combination with modifications in outdoor dining and parking spaces throughout the downtown, the atmosphere is not conducive for a safe Friday Night Car Show."
