DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Flowers, veggie plants, hanging baskets and other plants will be available for purchase at Petals for Pets. Hosted by West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS), the May 18 event raises money to help provide care for animals at the shelter as they wait to be adopted.

The event got its start some 20 years ago, WSHS Executive Director Carolyn Mossberger told Patch. Mossberger said perennials, herbs, flats and more will be for sale throughout the event, which raised approximately $15,000 in 2023.

"The plant sale is an event that our supporters look forward to every year," Mossberger said. "It is a lot of fun! People can buy their summer plants and help the animals at the adoption center."
