Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Hosts 'Heart Walk'
Hundreds of volunteers will walk from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in Downers Grove to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Hundreds of walkers will hit the streets of Downers Grove on Saturday to raise money for the American Heart Association.
Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, located in Downers Grove, is set to host the 2013 American Heart Association Heart Walk, the signature event of
the American Heart Association, which is dedicated to building healthy lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
The walk is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Esplanade, located at 1901 Butterfield Road, near I-355.
The walk is pet and kid friendly, and there are one-mile and three-mile routes.
Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s Heart Walk site leader Anne Lipira said the goal of the walk is to raise $45,000 for the American Heart Association, as well as registering 300 walkers from the community to join in the event.
“People should walk to join the mission of the American Heart Association, enjoy the outpouring of community support, help create hope, inspire change and celebrate success,” said Lipira, who is part of the “Cardiac Dream Team” at Good Samaritan Hospital.
“The work done by the American Heart Association improves patient care, advocates for better health, reaches out to populations at risk, raises awareness, protects our future and educates Americans,” Lipira said.
The Cardiac Rehab Dream Team comprises the nurses, exercise physiologists and staff of Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation program.
“We passionately raise lifesaving funds for the American Heart Association in honor of our cardiac rehab patients," Lipira said.
