BBQ Bolt Run/Walk To Be Held Sept. 7

The annual race was initially postponed due to excessive heat.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL - The Downers Grove Park District's BBQ Bolt Run/Walk was set to take place in the middle of summer, but will now celebrate the end of the season. Park District officials said the initial July 20 date was canceled due to extreme heat; the new date for the BBQ Bolt Run/Walk is set for Sept. 7.

The race, which kicks off and wraps up at McCollum Park, incorporates different distances and skill levels so more people can participate. Adult runners can compete in a 1- or 5-mile race or a 5K. A 50-meter dash gives kids 12 and under a chance to earn their own participation medal.

Participants with strollers or who are walking dogs can take part in the 1-mile run/walk.
