Body Found in Downers Grove Pond Identified

The elderly man found dead July 4 was a Downers Grove resident.

Downers Grove, IL — The man whose body was pulled from a pond in Downers Grove on July 4 has been identified as Richard Warren, 74 of Downers Grove, according to the DuPage County Coroner's Office.

Warren's death is presumed to be due to drowning, the coroner's office reports, though toxicology tests are still pending.

The investigation is being conducted by the Downers Grove Police Department and the coroner's office.

Police and fire departments were called to a pond in the 200 block of Village Drive around 9:30 a.m. Monday, after a person reported seeing a body in the pond.
