Car Stolen At Gunpoint In Downers Grove: Police

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating an armed carjacking that took place Saturday evening.

The victim told police they were in the 2000 block of Prairie Avenue around 7 p.m. when a man wearing a red ski mask and carrying a gun got out of a white 2017 Nissan Altima with license plate number BQ44989 and approached their 2008 Lexus. The suspect ordered the victim and passengers out of the Lexus before fleeing in the Lexus.

In the wake of the incident, police are reminding residents not to resist if they are approached by someone with a gun who is demanding property. Residents are also reminded to stay extra vigilant and remain aware of their surroundings.
